Rochester's largest art festival is taking place this weekend. The 52nd annual Clothesline festival.
It's that time of year again and everyone is looking forward to Rochester's 52nd Annual Clothesline festival. It is Rochester's largest art festival and the gallery's largest fund raiser.
In 1957, the first Clothesline festival exhibited 101 artists and 2,000 patrons despite the rainy, windy weather caused by Hurricane Audrey. Today those numbers have risen to more than 400 artists and 20,000 patrons. The artists are from a 53-county region from upstate New York.
This year the festival will feature live entertainment including gospel, hula, and the Rochester Gay Men's Chorus. There will be food and drink from local vendors, art demonstrations and activities for the children. The Clothesline festival has been voted Best Art Show in City Newspaper, Best of Rochester edition for the past three years.
Presenting Sponsor for the festival this year is M&T Bank. Supporting sponsors include Nolan's Rental, Inc. , the University of Rochester Medical Center and media sponsor the Democrat and Chronicle. Jenna Fava Design, News 10NBC, and Time Warner Cable are also supporters of the event.
